The hubs competed in a crossfit/marksmanship thing for cops a few weeks ago.
It was the event's first year so there were some kinks (it was 7 hours looong), but a very fun day. I hope they do it again next year. And I really hope some women sign up.

His sweet 'stache
The policy of the hubs' department is that its deputies may grow mustaches, but not beards.
If you think this rule makes no sense, well, get in line.
Fortunately for our marriage, he got sick of it and shaved it before my fake smile/grimace wore off and I told him how I really felt about it.
And if you feel that the true tragedy here lies in the fact that the world is being deprived of him ever being all handsome and scruffy and bearded, well, get in line.

Apple bear
Check it out.
The hubs was out in the sticks on patrol last week and saw a bear in an apple tree:
You can see her eyes shining and the outline of her light brown muzzle. (Click the photo to make it bigger.)
AND, when she hopped down, she was followed by two cubs! No pictures of them, but the idea is pretty cute, nonetheless.

Living his dream
I am sitting at the dining table, looking out our front window as the hubs pulls out of our driveway, off to work in the rain.
His patrol car stops to wait behind the school bus paused on our corner. As the kids drop from the bus stairs and file past his car, each one slows down to peer and wave at the policeman inside. The last boy almost comes to a stop outside the passenger window, and waves the hardest of all. When he clears the patrol car, he turns and continues along walking backwards, not wanting to tear his eyes from the man in the uniform.
I'm not wearing my glasses, so I can't make out the face of the officer in the car, but I know this exchange makes him beam.
I am so proud of my guy.
